Volunteer with Us

Want to volunteer in a friendly, team-oriented organization, helping people with disabilities live more independently?   You are in the right place!

 

disAbility Connections has a number of volunteer opportunities available:

  • Clerical Work: Experience in filing, typing, and / or organizing office documents as well as answering a multiple - line telephone.

  • Loan Closet Rental Assistance: Assisting clients who are in need of durable medical equipment i.e. introducing clients to various rental equipment; filling out necessary Loan Closet Rental forms, process returned equipment, etc.

  • Durable Medical Equipment Repair: On-site minor repair of community durable medical equipment including manual wheelchairs, walkers, power wheelchairs, power scooters etc. Repairs include checking and changing batteries power equipment and replacing bearings, brake handles and wheels on rollator wheelchairs. 

  • Durable Medical Equipment Maintenance: Cleaning and testing donated equipment and organizing equipment in the Loan Closet.

  • Fund Raising: Occasional and flexible commitment of time. Help in solicitation of funds for the operation of the organization. May include planning and participation of new events and development of special events.

  • Residential Ramp Building: Usually a full-day commitment at a home in Jackson County. Duties include building skills-no experience required - we are willing to train.

  • Residential Ramp Designer: Someone with experience in in construction or engineering who can design ramps according to ADA guidelines. Duties include site visits to assess ramp location and design, and develop the list of materials.

  • Residential Ramp Construction Manager:  Works with Designer to finalize list of materials and guides volunteers in the construction of the ramp.
